It’s common for us to get tired of the colors in our home as time passes, and feel the need to renovate to create a fresh atmosphere. If the old paint is peeling, we can repaint it ourselves without spending any money on hiring someone, and still achieve a beautiful wall as a professional and you can even share these techniques to help others.
Move the decorations in the room to outside, then spread a drop sheet on the floor and all furniture in your room. Use tape to cover the area around the electrical outlet to protect it from contaminants
Before painting the primer on the walls, you should wash the walls with trisodium phosphate (TSP) and use a trowel to apply patching compound to fill the holes caused by cracks and by nails
Use tape to cover the edges of doors, window frames, or areas where we don’t want the paint to get smeared
Paint the primer on the walls with a brush by applying it to the corners first, then use a roller to paint the walls, ensuring the coat is neither too thick nor too thin in the area that needs the main color, apply it evenly on the wall twice. After the first coat, wait for 2 hours to dry. Leave it to dry for 2-4 hours to help the paint adhere better and achieve a smoother finish
When the primer is dry. Apply the main color to all the corners of walls with a paint brush, covering them completely to form square blocks then use a roller to paint the main color as a zigzag pattern on the walls. Next, fill in the remaining gaps by rolling up and down in a straight line. Finally, remove the tape to complete the process
